Dutch History Mystery Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

A&WP: Spent several weeks preparing the first mystery cache and someone ran off with the well camouflaged pieces.

Hard to reinvest in all the materials only to see it disappear again.

Geocache Description:

This cache is placed to celebrate our dutch heritage and to let others enjoy learning some interesting tidbits of Dutch history. Everything except the first stage is handicapped accessible. The coordinates for the first stage are given on this page.

This is a two stage Puzzle cache. You will need to find the first and second cache locations and sign the log to obtain credit for the find.

In the container at the first stage of the cache you will find a set of coordinates with letters substituted for numbers in the coordinates. You will need to stroll around the park reading the plaques and posters at points of interest to find the answers to the questions below. The answers will allow you to make the correct substitution of numbers into the coordinates. Inserting the numbers will yield the coordinates of the final stage where the log is kept. The stroll is meant to be fun and informative.

Replace the A with the number of locations mentioned where town pumps were typically installed.

Replace the B and C with the last two digits for the height of the cap of a typical tall Stelling Molen.

Replace the D with the number of floors mentioned in a typical Paltrok Molen.

Replace the E with the last digit in the year under the name “Rod” on the Tjasker Molen.

Replace the F with the first digit in the published length of the canal in this park.

Replace the G with the number which is three less than the number of pennies each person crossing the "Brugge Tot Orangestad" paid as a toll.

Replace the H with the number of the different architectural styles incorporated into the “Dutch Fences” displayed in the park.

As always you do not need to damage or deface public property and no bushwhacking is required. BYOP. TOTT may be needed. This cache is in a high muggle area. There are picnic, playground, and restroom facilities available. Lots of parking nearby. There are structures in the surrounding area which may interfere with GPS signals. Permission was obtained from the city to place the caches in the park.
