Geocache Description:

This cache brings you very close to the Hannington TV mast. The cache location marks the boundary between the two fields.

This circular trail is approximately 6 miles long just outside the Hampshire village of Kingsclere. The skyline within this area is dominated by the 131 metre tall Hannington television mast, which can be seen from almost the entire circuit.

16 caches make up the circuit, however there are two others a very short distance away taking the potential to 18, plus a multi-cache.

The circuit takes you close to the world famous Watership Down, uses part of the Wayfarers Walk long distance path and around the mast itself, overlooking the Park House racing stables, where many winners have been trained and around the edge of the village.

There are some fantastic views in three or four places on this circuit, so don't forget your camera.

The circuit has been designed so that you can start it at any point and can be completed in either direction. The Watership Down section is particularly steep, so if you prefer to climb steep hills, then do the circuit in an anti-clockwise direction, clockwise if you prefer to go down them.

Approximately 1 mile of the circuit is walking on a road, the rest is either footpaths, bridle ways or tracks. Unsuitable for buggies. Parts can get muddy in the winter.
The sections on the Wayfarers Walk and close to the village itself are very popular walking spots, so caution should be taken retrieving the caches.

None of the caches have writing tools, so bring a pen!

Parking

The best place to park is on White Hill, either in the layby or the car park itself, although this can get very busy at the weekends as it is on the Wayfarers Walk. If you are returning at dusk/night then you should park on the road. You could park in the village, however this will involve a walk to the circuit.

Facilities

Kingsclere has a number of shops and pubs where you can get supplies.
