SLO: Most so začeli graditi septembra 1893, končali pa so ga avgusta 1894 in ga slovesno odprli za javni promet 26. avgusta 1894. Jekleno konstrukcijo mostu je gradilo dunajsko podjetje Ignacij Griedl. Podporne temelje je zgradil gradbenik Tršek iz Šmarjete pri Rimskih Toplicah. Most je bil dolg 84 m in širok 6m. Bil je tretji največji tovrstni most v stari Avstriji, kar je pomenilo, da je takrat največja tovrstna konstrukcija na slovenskem z enim samim nosilnim poljem. Dopustna obrmenitev mostu je bila 12 t, kar je še danes razvidno iz starih litoželeznih napisnih tabel na obeh koncih mostu. Most je bil v svojem času poseben tehniški dosežek in so ga omenjali tudi v strokovni literaturi kot izvirno konstrukcijo.
Celotna konstrukcija mostu je izvedena kot paličje oz. podaljšlje iz valjanih železnih profilov. Vsi spoji so med seboj kovičeni. Vozišče je izdelano iz hrastovih plohov. Vse kaže da je po vojni prišlo do obnove oz. ojačanja mostu. Na spodnjih spojih, vertikalnih in diagonalnih nosilcih so vidne varjene zaplate. Drugih rekonstrukcij most ni bil deležen in je ohranjen v svojem prvotnem izgledu. Ko so zgradili nov železobetonski most čez Savo, je stari most izgubil svojo pomembnost. Most so zaprli za ves promet, razen za pešce. Danes je most namenjen kolesarjem in pešcem.
ENG: They started to build the bridge in september 1893, and they finished it in august 1894. Opening celebration for public traffic was on 26. august 1894. Steel construction was made by a company from Wien - Ignacij Griedl. Foundation was build by a constructor Tršek from "Šmarjeta pri Rimskih Toplicah". Bridge was 84 m long and 6m wide. It was third biggest bridge in old Austria and biggest construction like this on slovenian land with only one mount point. Allowed load of the bridge was 12 t, and it's still vidible from old iron signs on both ends of a bridge. The bridge in its time was a special technical achivement and it was mentioned in professional literature as an original construction.
There was some reconstruction after the was, but there was no other special reconstructions and the bridge still has the same visual image as it used to. When they build a new iron-concrete bridge over Sava, the old bridge lost it's importance. Bridge was closed for traffic except pedestrians. Today the bridge is ment to be used by cyclers and pedestrians.
