WOODFORD -- The Woodford Union Christian Church has not been used regularly for services for several decades, yet it is a cherished landmark in town, and devoted people have long kept it in good repair.
Church trustees and friends are seeking the means to continue this work, as there currently are some repairs and upgrades needed.
The church is located on the top of the mountain on the south side of Route 9 in what is known as "Woodford City."
At about 2,215 feet above sea level, the church's elevation makes it the highest in the state. "Closer to God" is a frequent phrase when people mention this.
