The Carolina Thread Trail is a series of interconnected greenways, trails, and blueways. This particular segment of trail covers 2.2 miles along the South Yadkin River. This segment of trail is home to numerous hardwood trees and riparian forests. There are numerous species of plants, birds, and other animals. The trail is easy to follow and the majority is well shaded for a nice hike nearly any time of the year.
There is great information about this portion and the rest of the Thread Trail project at http://www.carolinathreadtrail.org
We decided to place a whole series of caches along this trail segment to draw attention to this segment of trail and the Carolina Thread Trail system as a whole. We hope you enjoy these caches and the trail.
You want to start practice your tree identification with this cache. Some people are allergic to the type of tree you will find this cache near. Their pollen or the smoke from burning them is the worst. We hope your allergies do not keep you too far away to sign the log.
Please observe all posted markings and signage along the trail. In keeping with Thread Trail rules, caches are placed not far from the trail. Please hide as found to protect from muggles and make the hunt fun for the next cachers.
Congrats to tbbiker for the FTF!
