This geocache is one in a series created by the Palos Verdes Library District in celebration of Palos Verdes Estates’ 75th anniversary. Each title starts with “PVE Turns 75”.
We hope you enjoy these “views” (you’ll see what we mean) of our past as you enjoy this beautiful city. (No spoilers, please.)

The City of Palos Verdes Estates incorporated in 1939 and is the oldest of the four cities that make up the Palos Verdes Peninsula. Starting as the Rancho de los Palos Verdes land grant in the early 1800s, the Peninsula has had a history rich in ranching and farming before becoming the well-known residential community it is today.
In 1913 a New York financier, purchased 16,000 acres (basically the Peninsula) to create a dream community by the sea. The first area to be developed was the 3000 or so acres that make up PVE. With a cast of the most well known professionals of the day, including Frederick Law Olmsted, Jr (son of the very same Olmsted that created Central Park in New York!), the area was meticulously researched and laid out.

This is an officially authorized Library geocache. The Library is open Monday through Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm. The cache is only available during open hours.
Park behind the Library. You'll find Stage 1 right close by.
If your car gets “towed”, make sure to take the last three numbers to claim your vehicle. Add 384.
Feel the breeze and “go fishing” at Stage 2. The city will give you the “last” part you need. Make sure you add 799.
You're ready now. Combine the two numbers with a “point” to find the cache. Ask a librarian if you need assistance “checking this one out”!
