Die Solana bei Pag ist ein kleines Unternehmen zur Industrie- und Speise-Salzgewinnung aus Meersalz
An diesem Platze wird seit mehr als 1000 Jahren mit flachen meerwassergefluteten Feldern Meersalz gewonnen.
Dabei wird das Meerwasser durch ein kompliziertes Labyrinth von Kanälen in die flachen Felder geleitet und dort durch Sonne und Wind das Wasser verdunstet, sodass nur noch reines Meersalz übrig bleibt. Bis vor etwa 30 Jahren hat man das auch hier in Pag so gemacht, seit dem wurde das Meersalz in den flachen Feldern durch Verdunstung aufkonzentriert und mittels Öl-beheizter Öfen fertig getrocknet. Seit 2011 wird diese Trockung mit einer Holzheizung betrieben, sodass das Salz aus Pag ein absolut ohne CO2-Belastung hergestelltes sehr schmackhaftes Salz ist.
Diese Salz gibt es für wenig Geld in den meisten Supermärkten in Kroatien zu kaufen

The Solana Pag in a tiny company for producing salt for industrial and eating purposes out of ocean water.
At this place salt is being produced with shallow oceanwater-flooded areas since more than 1000 years.
The ocean-water comes through small channels into the shallow fields, where sun and wind lets the water disappear and left the salt in the fields.
Up to the 1980´s it was done exactly that way in Pag, but since then thexy just reduced the water in the fields and did the last drying in oil-heated ovens. Since 2011 the oil is replased by wood, so they now burn wood to do the last drying. Therefore this production is completley CO2-neutral and produces a very tasty salt.
This salt can be purchased for little monexy in almost every supermarket in Croatia.
