The Second Summer Youth Olympic Games were held in Nanjing, August 16th to 28th 2014. Some 3,800 young athletes from 204 countries took part in 28 sports.
The Youth Olympic Games are held every 2nd year, alternating between summer and winter games. Athletes aged 15 to 18 may take part.
Off the competition fields, an integrated culture and education programme focuses on discussions about education, Olympic values, social challenges, and cultural diversity. The YOG aims to spread the Olympic spirit and encourage sports participation.
