The Warren Railroad was chartered on February 1851, to provide a connection from the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad's terminus at the Delaware River (or Portland, PA according to some sources) to Hampton, New Jersey. Approximately sixteen of the twenty mile long railroad where in Warren County, NJ.
At the northern end is a trestle bridge over the Delaware River in disrepair that is unsafe and posted as no trespassing.
The railroad went south, more or less paralleling Route Fourty Six where Lackawanna Road, Delaware Road and Valley Street are presently located.
