Father Ted is a sitcom aired on Channel 4 between 1995 and !998, there are a total of 25 episodes starring a predominately Irish cast, it is set on the fictional Craggy Island, were three priests live together in the parochial house with their housekeeper Mrs Doyle. The three priests answer to Bishop Brennan, who has banished them to Craggy Island as punishment for different incidents in their past. Father Ted's nemesis is Father Dick Bryne of the nearby Rugged Island Parish. The show met with critical acclaim and is one of the most popular sitcoms in Irish television history.
Father Ted Crilly is the main character in the series, he constantly feels burdened by the idiocy and insanity of those around him, notably the alcoholic Father Jack and the unintelligent Father Dougal, as well as the manic housekeeper Mrs Doyle.
