ENG: The church of "Saint Lucia" was granted to the Vittorini's monks of Marseilles by the Judge of Cagliari in 1119. In 1858, a Governor Plan of the city provides for the extension of various streets in the neighborhoods of Castello and Marina, and also the Church of St. Lucia, but the project was never implemented. In 1943, a bomb slightly damaged the dome and the sacristy. The damage, however, were deliberately amplified in order to obtain State funding due to the reconstruction plan post-war drawn up in 1947, the same year when the church was demolished. However, until 2002, when the works began, the area was first used as a garbage dump and then asphalt and used as a parking.
ITA: La chiesa di Santa Lucia fu concessa ai monaci Vittorini di Marsiglia dal Giudice di Cagliari nel 1119. Nel 1858 un Piano Regolatore della città prevede l'ampliamento di varie vie dei quartieri di Castello e Marina, interessando anche la stessachiesa di S. Lucia, tuttavia il progetto non fu attuato. Nel 1943 una bomba danneggia lievemente la cupola e la sacrestia. I danni vengono però amplificati volutamente allo scopo di ottenere un finanziamento statale grazie al piano di ricostruzionepost-bellica redatto nel 1947, anno in cui la chiesa viene demolita. Tuttavia fino al 2002, anno di inizio dei lavori di recupero, l'area viene prima usata come immondezzaio e poi asfaltata e usata come parcheggio.
