Geocache Description:

Burrington Ham & Combe is formed by a series of Carboniferous Limestone beds which in some places dips almost vertically due to the folding of the rocks.

As limestone is porous there is no surface water and below ground there are a series of complex cave systems that have been formed by the eroding water widening joints and cracks in the rocks.

If you sit here for a little while I expect you will see the wild goats on the slopes below you.

Please replace the geocache, so that it is not discovered or disturbed by the goats ... as otherwise may end up at the bottom of the Coombe!

Geocache placed with permission of Discovering Black Down Officer, Mendip Hills AONB Unit
