The Ministik Bird Sanctuary, once filled with large sprawling lakes enclosed by islands of trees, is now filled with large sprawling meadows of grass enclosed by islands of trees. It's very easy to get turned around out here. Look at the landscape around you, walk a half an hour in any direction and you'd swear you were looking at the same landscape.
During my first visits to the this part of the sanctuary, the collection of trees this cache is hidden in, and two others nearby, served as very useful landmarks to orient me towards the trailhead. "Oh, so that's where I am now!"
When you find this cache, take a moment to pay homage to the Beacon tree, a "guiding light" on a sea of grass (and in season, snow).
