Geocache Description:

This is a series of caches laid out by me that also includes lots of caches by other people.  The trail is a 6 mile circuit on Redways and leisure routes and so the whole thing is cycle, scooter and buggy friendly and thus perfect for a family outing.

The route takes in 7 play parks (6 really, but you’ll see what I mean!) a large green space and an ancient wood.  All the playparks are rated and described by my son.  There are many lovely picnic spots en route and also a very small detour to a nice pub for the adults!

The trail can be done in any direction and from any point, but I’ll be writing the directions starting from the first cache and going anti-clockwise.  NB: A number of caches along this route have been archived in the last year so the number extra caches available may wax and wane!

Continue along the canal-side path until it emerges into a series of playing fields and playpark number 3 at N 52 04.324 W 000 44.822

Another great park with an amazing zip line and climbing frame.  Plenty of things to do, but most “revolve” around making you dizzy so I would not recommend going there after a meal.  A good slide would be a cool addition!

7/10

Head to the obvious bridge over the canal and take the leisure route just before it on the left, follow this along between the bridlepath and (what used to be) paddocks emerging onto Marsh Drive in Gt. Linford.  From here cross the road and follow the road sign for the Memorial Hall but continue along the pot-holed drive through the fancy iron gates and down into Linford Manor Park.

(Lots of puzzles and multis in Gt. Linford but I’ve left them off the list as I suspect that may be too much for some children!)

Briefly pick up the National Cycle network route 6 going past the church and head for the earthcache at:

Great Linford Quarry

Not only a scenic spot to picnic, but kids of all ages love the old quarry stones that have been set up here.

Then onto Railway Walk and:

Up or Under

Another detour off of the paths is available here to pick up the 5 caches in Stone Pit Park.

Continuing along the Railway Walk and turn left to pick up:

Walking The Dog

and follow the Redway into Stantonbury.

Playpark 4 can be found at: N52 04.033 W 000 46.161

It’s a slide.  And one swing.

1/10

Continue South along the Redway to the much larger playpark 5 at: N 52 03.900 W 000 46.153

Amazing park, lots of fun to be had; the zip line is a little slow but the sheer amount of stuff is appreciated.  The park is best for small children and people with skateboards or scooters.

7/10 (9/10 with a skateboard, bike or scooter)

Continue South along the Redway to the cache.

You’re looking for a small wooden container held in place with a black cable tie.

Congratulations to mcaddy and Norfolk12 on their joint FTF!
