Geocache Description:

A fairly easy find located around some of the most beautiful farm land Rhode Island has to offer.

I came across Salisbury Farm while visiting their Corn Maze last year. After struggling through the maze (much harder than geocaching) I struck up a conversation with one of the son's. He shared some of the history of the farm with me, and being someone from the farmlands of PA as well as a history buff, I was fascinated by all of this. He told me I could read more of the farm's history online at their website.  Here is some of what I found....   It was founded in the 1800's by Squire Williams Salisbury. Originally a hay farm, supplying the local stage coach stop, it has transitioned through 5 generations of Salisbury's. Through the years it has been a dairy farm, strawberry producer, as well as a pumpkin and various food crop producer. They now have added hay rides, an annual Corn Maze, a small petting zoo area, and raise bees to produce their own local honey.

The conversation somehow turned to geocaching. Being one of the creators of the "Corn Maze" he was immediately interested in the hunt. He gave permission for me to hide a cache on the property, but I decided to put it just outside. It is a small lock-top container with a log book and a few trinkets in it. There is a gift-card for the FTF. If the farm stand is open, the gate to the parking lot will be pulled back and you have permission to park in their lot. When the gate is up, you can make it a true park and grab by carefully parking on Peck Hill Road.

This is kid friendly and there is no charge to bring them in to pet the goats and llamas. If you decide to spring for the Corn Maze, bring your GPS and an aerial view found here.
