Geocache Description:

Small black L&L. Located on an uphill trail, directly across from MM 4 sign in tree. Loose rocks & kinda steep - go slow. Only about 75' up trail. Please re-conceal well when replacing. Nice river view. Starting off with a TB.

OHV stands for Old Hill Village. All these caches are part of a series of very easy hides along the Old Hill Village road, which runs from Franklin (off Rte 3A just north of the Franklin Dam), and north through Hill, and onto into Bristol. The total length of this road is 6.1 miles, and ends at Profiles Falls in Bristol. This is the "North" half. These easy caches run from about the 1/2 way point in Hill, then north to Bristol.

All are just along the old main road, or, no more than 60' off the road. All are camo'd. Some are L&L's, and some are large pill bottles (room enough only for Pathtags, log & very small swag). I recommend you BYOP, even tho some have a pencil.

NOTE: All are easy P&G's. However, I use this term loosely. They're P&G only in respect to the old main road down in the Old Hill Village. They're truly motor vehicle P&G's ONLY 2 days out of the year. The remaining 363 days they're P&G's from your snowmobile, bicycle or horse. So, in respect to the road surface, each is less than 60' away.....hence, the P&G rating.

Cell service is terrible, and GPS signals can be bouncy. All my coords seem fairly accurate, whereas I checked and averaged on 3 different devices. Use your geosenses. These caches were meant to be found easily, but hopefully, not too easy for Muggles.

Once every year, the weekend after Labor Day, the NH Forests & Lands, in co-op with US Forestry & US Army Corp of Engineers, opens up the entire Old Hill Village to motorized wheeled vehicles (9AM to 5PM Saturday & Sunday). So everybody can have a great opportunity to drive the entire length from Bristol to Franklin (about 6.1 miles). Driving in access is from the "main gate" ONLY, N 43° 31.390 W 071° 41.773. All other gates remained closed. It truly is a wonderful experience to drive in the old Hill village.....takes you back in time.

The scenery and the history are both fascinating and mesmerizing. There is plenty of research material available, but here is a quick link to a very well done summary online.....<http://www.nhtourguide.com/history/hill_village.htm>.

Throughout the remainder of the year, traffic is limited to pedestrian, bicycling and, in winter, snowmobiles.

You can park at either end (Hill or Bristol). From Hill, there are two entry points. The first, the so-called "main gate", N 43° 31.390 W 071° 41.773. Geocache "Old Hill Village Gate #1" (GC4N22D) is located there too. Coming in off Rte 3A, take New Chester Rd to Back Rd to the gate.

The second is just a little farther north. From Rte 3A, take Old Town Rd to the paved parking area of the north gate, N 43° 31.616 W 071° 42.010.  There, you can find BandyRooster's Premium Only cache, the "Needle Shop Gas Saver" (GC4EDTF).

And third, is from Profile Falls in Bristol, where there is a large paved parking area, N 43° 33.984 W 071° 43.915.

Congrats to JSLisLost on your FTF! Your timing was pretty good today, considering all the cachers that were out there today.
