Geocache Description:

Let's celebrate our geo-achievements!  Please join us for a dinner event -- chicken stew -- with a twist!

Ten years ago, in the spring of 2004, MissAngele, Bartacus and honeychile hosted an event cache to celebrate the amazing geocaching milestone of 1,000 caches found by our intrepid friends, David & Diana (see Birthday Bash).  Back then, finding even 100 caches was cause for celebration and their 1K milestone boggled our minds.  This was before the days of LPCs and most urban caching, so those 1,000 finds represented a tremendous amount of traveling, trail time, and shoe leather.
 
Now flash forward 10+ years and, again, David & Diana have amazed us by celebrating 14K finds, so we have planned another celebration.  As with the original celebration, we want to celebrate everyone's geo-achievements.  As amazing as 14K sounds, I realize there are a few in our area who have found this many and even more!  We don't want to leave anyone out, so while the January 17 event will focus on our friends David & Diana, we will take opportunity to honor all of our geoachievements as well.
 
The event will be held at the posted coordinates (Old Richmond EMC) from 6-9pm so you'll have time to do some caching in the area before the event, if you like.  There may be a few new ones out for the occasion.

This is a free dinner event and all we will need is your "will attend" log.  Please indicate your intention to come as early as you can so that we can plan  Please include the number in your party, so we'll have plenty of food.  Chicken stew, crackers, a beverage, and a dessert will be provided.

We have one small optional request. As 14K is a tremendous number to wrap your head around, we want to offer a fun visual aid.  We are asking each person/team to bring a small bag of savory goldfish crackers with them (any flavor except the sweet cookie type).  We will have a kiddie pool on a table at the event and will open the bags and toss them into the pool as people arrive.  We hope to end up with at least 14K little cracker fishies, which will make for a good Kodak moment!  When it's time to eat the chicken stew, these fish will join the stew, and we'll have bags so that everyone can take leftover crackers home.
