The location of this cache is at a monument that reflects the important history that the railways have played in the development of many communities in Western Canada, and certainly that of Watrous, Saskatchewan. At one time Watrous had a roundhouse that serviced train engines. The contractor, Carter-Halls-Aldinger, was a Winnipeg firm responsible for many buildings, both utilitarian and aesthetic, throughout the Canadian West , constructing roundhouses in western Canada. Jiggers, both hand operated, and powered units, were important during the early days in regards to railroad maintenance.
