Geocache Description:

NO RUNNING REQUIRED!!

An event to combine my 2 hobbies, an attempt to encourage people to tackle Earthcaches and a chance to earn a souvenir as part of the ongoing celebration of 10 Years of Earthcaches.

Meet me at the Event Co-ords at anytime between 2-3pm, sign the log book and then negotiate the suggested 5km route. Follow the 'Trailheads' below in order 1,2,3 & 4 before arriving at your destination.

There is no need to hang around and wait for others, although this is an ideal opportunity to do meet other cachers, more importantly you DO NOT have to run the 5km, however you must time your 5km and you must photograph yourself with your Earthcache Bib at the earthcache location before or after having completed the suggested 5km route. Then follow the instructions on the link below.

For further information see: http://community.geosociety.org/EarthCache/events/virtual5k

There is no need to attend this event to complete the requirements for the souvenir, you can make up your own route to or from ANY ACTIVE earthcache if you wish.

I will be running the route, leaving the car park at 3pm, i imagine i'll take around 20-25 minutes, please feel free to join me.

For those that choose to walk allow 60-90 mins, the first 4km are flat along a sandy beach, the last stretch is over undulating terrain that is often tricky underfoot, i'd recommend sensible footwear, Alas the terrain isn't wheelchair friendly.

Please keep dogs under close control, especially over the Sand Point SSSI section, where livestock is often grazing and be aware of cliff edges close to the Earthcache itself.

If the weather is good then the Earthcache location is an excellent place for a picnic, you may wish to bring a blanket though as it is rather rocky.

Hope to see you there!

Please note horses are not allowed onto Sand Point without express permission of the National Trust.
