The canal that is directly ahead/behind this cache, is the Belcher Canal. One of many in this area. This is a great area for fishing year round. Also a great place to do a little paddling in a kayak or canoe. A boat ramp that is located approximately one mile to the east, allows for easy access. The area is also a great place to view a variety of wildlife. What you will see depends on the time of the year. I have seen deer, gators, eagles, bobcats and even cougars. Directly to the east is the Florida Turnpike. Living under this overpass/bridge is a large colony of bats. Interesting to watch in the early morning and late evening.
