Welcome to Buckland Monachorum, the village I grew up in and would like to show you the most trodden walk in my life which is 3-4 miles depending on the routes you take. It is made up of country lanes, fields and footpaths and you can check the link if you wish to read more about the history.
Please...
- Take care when walking around the village
- Show respect to the land and locals
- Control your dogs and clean up after them
- Remain aware that the lanes are narrow with poor vision
- Do not stray from public routes and keep off private land
- Don't litter
- Don't be too heavy handed searching for the caches
This road was 5 minutes from our house in the village and we can pretty much navigate to it with our eyes shut. Our grandad (Grampy) died when we were young so as we grew up we would go and visit Gran at her house, play in the back field with the cats and duck, walk to the village shop and love every minute. Sadly she passed away in 2013 so this one is for her.
From the village, after reaching this location you need to come back on yourself to carry on the journey. However if you continue down this road you will reach Buckland Abbey, the National Trust property.
