The Mathilda A. Barthell OES Home, located in Decorah, IA, was made possible through a bequest from Sister Mathilda A. Barthell in 1967. She was a lifelong Eastern Star member. This Home, completed in 1969, is situated in a peaceful setting overlooking the Upper Iowa River valley. Originally, only Mason and Eastern Star members were accepted; now it is open to all qualified persons, with priority going to Mason and Eastern Star members.
In 1993, the Mathilda A. Barthell OES Home was reincorporated as the Barthell OES Home. They are a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization, and it is managed by a five-member board.
The first stage will take you to the front of the nursing home. The second stage takes you by the six licensed independent living apartments, and 32 assisted living apartments
