Geocache Description:

Tara Junction is a quick magnetic cache (you must pass the silver fence to access the track), and is the starting point of a walk along disused tracks over the Blackwater River if you want to stretch your legs and go back in time!

Quick grab or a stroll for the braver few along a disused track that will bring you to a bridge over the Blackwater River (in 5 mins) or right up to the new park in Navan (in 15 mins) if you stay on the tracks, turn off right at the frst turn and follow the path around woods to the road, turn right on main road and walk 3 mins to the park on your left hand side. It is perfect for dogs too (on a lead as the bridge has a few gaps and don't let kids run ahead either), we often walk this as a family but I would not recommend going alone, you never know and are quite isolated on the tracks, bring a caching buddy and keep to daylight hours. People use it for fishing and short cut through town. It is covered in Blackberries in Sept. If you set off to do the walk it should be 5K from car to park, round park and back again. Takes a good hour if walking. But then again you could just grab the cache and dash :)) The track has been closed since 2002.
