To claim this cache, park at GZ (a nice area has been provided adjacent to the listed coordinates--make sure you pull completely off the road; there's room). Stage one is the group of three two signs that have been installed to describe the significance of this location. Don't be in a rush--take your time and read about the history of the area and what General Washington and his troops went through to secure their victory. In order to locate the final, answer the following three questions:
In what number century did farmers begin settling this area? This number will be A. This sign is gone. A = 17.- At what hour of the morning was the crossing of the Delaware River complete? This will be B:00 am.
- At what time did General Washington and his troops arrive at Jacobs Creek? This is C:00 am.
Calculate "D" by the following: D = A - B - C - 6.
Calculate "E" by the following: E = B - 2.
Before you travel to the final coordinates, look out at the creek and picture what this crossing must have been like with horses, cannons, a bunch of troops without shoes, in the dead of winter--without a bridge.
The final coordinates are N40 16.C7E, W074 49.82D. Plan on driving to the final coordinates; there is a small place to park there. Look sharp; there's space and you don't need to venture onto the interstate ramp. You'll be looking for a camouflaged pill bottle. It contains a portrait of George for the FTF. We recommend that you do this hunt during daylight hours only.
Note that as of 8/29/19, the cache has been relocated a bit and the coordinates and calculations updated accordingly. When you get to the parking area for the final, walk to the grassy area just north of where you parked and access the cache from there.
4/4/21: We noticed on 3/11 that one of the signs got knocked off its supports, apparently in an auto accident. Today while driving by, we only saw two signs there; we'll be going back to check on this to see if the required answers are on the surviving signs.
