TESTIMONI DELL’IMPERO
Il forte Dosso del Sommo (in tedesco, Werk Serrada) è una fortificazione militare che si trova a Folgaria, ad un'altitudine di 1.670 m slm, in provincia di Trento. Il forte, il più grande di tutto il fronte, appartiene al grande sistema di fortificazioni austriache al confine italiano. Il forte è stato eretto in una posizione dominante, da una parte domina la val Terragnolo, riuscendo a scorgere il Pasubio, mentre dall'altra ha una visuale sull'altopiano di Lavarone e di Asiago, oltre ad essere in collegamento "ottico" con i vicini forti: forte Sommo Alto e forte Sebastiano.
Armamento:
-4 obici da 100 mm in cupole girevoli con una gittata di 7-8 km
-2 cannoni da 60 mm, riparati da uno scudo corazzato
-22 mitragliatrici
I danni visibili sono stati causati dai “recuperanti”, ovvero coloro che, dopo il conflitto, recuperarono l’acciaio dalle strutture dei forti austroungarici facendoli saltare in aria con l’esplosivo. Il forte può essere raggiunto da più direzioni con una facile escursione di circa 30 minuti.

The fort Dosso del Sommo (in German, Werk Serrada) is a military fortification that is in Folgaria, at an altitude of 1,670 m above sea level, in the province of Trento. The fort, the largest and powerful of the whole line, belongs to the great Austrian system of fortifications to the Italian border. The fort was built in a dominant position on one side overlooking the valley of Terragnolo, being able to see the Pasubio, while the other has a clear view of Lavarone and Asiago plateau, as well as being in "optical" connection with the neighbors forts: Fort Sommo Alto and Fort Cherle .
Armament:
-4 100 mm howitzers in rotating domes with a range of 7-8 km
-two 60 mm cannons, repaired by an armored shield
-22 machine guns
The visible damages have been caused by the "recuperanti", people who, after the war, recovered the steel from the structures of the Austro-Hungarian war buildings blasting them with TNT. The rests of the fort can be reached from several directions with an easy hike of about 30 minutes.
