an old Hippodrome Traditional Cache

This is my second cache made with a goal to show some of forrgoten places of Sremska Mitrovica. Sremska Mitrovica had a hippodrome yes. And it wasn’t all that long ago. As a testimony of just how much this place is forrgotten stands the fact that you will find apsolutely no records or stories about it on the internet. That’s what happened to me while I was trying to write this text. All I menaged to find was one picture,yes,only one. And not only that but I had one more problem. I was too young to remember “the good old days”. My father said to me that he used to take my sister and me to watch horse racing a lot but I don’t remember not a tiny bit of it. That’s why I will wrote this story on what I have heared from my father. If I got it right,Hippodrome was part of KP Sremska Mitrovica which is one of Serbias biggest prisons,was and still is. And at the time director of KP Sremska Mitrovica was a great lover of horces and horce racing. Thus he made a Hippodrome to what it was. By making taking care of the horses and the Hippodromes terrein the regular chorse of the prisoners, he made it work. And it was amazing! Whole Sremska Mitrovica was there. Horce races were a regular and very freaquant event for everyone who wanted to come. But the time have changed. I am not complatelly sure what happened, probably director got replaced and it was a down hill ever since. Hippodrome struggeled few more years as a place where “famouse” and oh-so-hated by all the kinds (including me) RTS kid races took place. But even that stoped. And so stoped the life of once magnificent pride and joy of Sremska Mitrovica. These days it was a host to  days of firework. Probably chosen cos of its size and distance from the city itself. But it had the chance to breath again filled with kids and parents,laughter and joy,to breath for breaf three days and who know when again. They promised days of firework will become a annual event, only time can tell. Till then sleepy Hippodrome will stay where it is, dreaming of its glory days and hoping those days will once return...
