Geocache Description:


Tenkiller State Park is located at the southern edge of Tenkiller Ferry Lake near the dam that was built by the Corps of Engineers from 1947 - 1952. The area surrounding Tenkiller State Park is part of the Oklahoma Ozark Uplift that spanned parts of Missouri, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. This particular area of Oklahoma is part of the Uplift from the Pennsylvanian aged rocks formed approximately 310 million years ago from the Boston Mountains and Atoka Formation.


The Atoka Formation is mostly formed from Sandstone and Limestone and some of these limestones show evidence of fossils.

Please stop by the Visitor Center for additional information. A waypoint is provided below for reference. Please be careful walking to the posted coordinates and keep your children close due to loose footing and water nearby.
