Geocache Description:

Musashino-shi is now one of the most popular city. But you will learn one of dark side of the city. There existed brothels near GZ from 1950 to 1957 at the north of Mitaka station.

今でこそ「住みたい街ナンバーワン」に選ばれる武蔵野市であるが、1950年（昭和25）～1957年（昭和32）の期間、中央線の三鷹駅北口から程近い武蔵野八丁目（現：武蔵野市中町２丁目12番地）に武蔵八丁特飲街という「特殊飲食店」（売春を目的とする店）街が存在した。地元の強い反対運動に遭い、1957年（昭和32）12月に廃業宣言を出し、短期間で消滅することとなった。キャッシュが置かれている交差点の北西側の区画がその場所である。当時の組合事務所だったといわれている建物が残っているほか、通り、公園、商店街に「八丁」の名前を残している。また交差点の南西側に古い飲屋街があるが、これも特飲街があった名残と考えられる。
