The RSPB describe the area between the park and the Bog Meadows as a corridor where migrant birds fly from Africa, in summer, to nesting sites along this green pathway. They have placed many bird boxes for swifts and swallows to encourage them to nest here. The park has a rich bird life and grey squirrels can be seen scurrying up trees. There is a 5km parkrun every Saturday morning at 9.30am.
