Les Houches devient une paroisse indépendante avec la construction de l'église baroque vers 1730, puis un territoire communal avec sa propre administration, en 1787.
A la même époque, les premiers touristes, venus de Genève, traversent les Houches pour visiter les "Glacières"(glaciers) de Chamonix.

Son architecture extérieure se caractérise par sa sobriété sans doute adaptée à la rudesse du climat. Sa façade présente toutes les caractéristiques du style baroque ( portail monumental, fronton, niches, clocher).
A l'intérieur, vous découvrirez une nef unique, un retable central en bois, sculpté et peint par Jean Baptiste Bozzo. Les vitraux et le chemin de croix sont des oeuvres des années 30.

The outside architecture is characterized by its sobriety doubtless adapted to the harshness of the climate. Its facade presents all the characteristics of the baroque style (gate, front wall, niches, bell tower).
Inside, you will discover a unique nave, a wooden central altarpiece, sculptured and painted by Jean Baptiste Bozzo. Stained glass windows and the Way of the Cross are works of the 1930s.
