The sculpture located near this cache was installed in July of 2005. It was created by Westlake native Harold Balazs of brushed stainless steel, 16 feet in diameter, on a 4 foot base. It weighs 2 tons and took the community three years of fundraising to bring it from Washington state to its current home.
As the plaque says, "Art should be a thing of wonder." It is said that the artist hopes that it will provoke a sense of wonder and believes there is too much emphasis on interpreting art.
So enjoy a moment of wonder, and have fun finding a relatively easy cache.
This cache was originally placed by FunkyMonkey, and was one of the earlier finds for our caching squad. We really enjoyed the find, so when we saw this one go archived, we wanted to re-create it. The cache, as the original was, is a 1 quart rubbermaid drink container, but camouflaged this time. The top screws off (the pop top is taped down on purpose). Log inside with lots of little trades and plenty of room for trackables.
Another original piece of artwork from local artist Don Drumm was a prize for the first one to find it. CONGRATULATIONS WINSLPR! Enjoy!
