GODZILLA
What is Godzilla?

The name "Godzilla" is a transliteration of Gojira , a combination of two Japanese words: gorira, meaning gorilla, and kujira, meaning whale. "a cross between a gorilla and a whale". Whale represents his aquatic lifestyle and his bulky size. Gorilla represents his sheer strength and the strategic thinking he uses when fighting against other monsters.
His origins vary, but he is almost always described as a prehistoric creature, and his first attacks on Japan are linked to the beginning of the Atomic Age. In particular, mutation due to atomic radiation is presented as an explanation for his great size and strange powers..
Godzilla, originally is an animal with semi-sapience that stumbles upon human civilization without any malicious intent, only destroying man-made structures or obstacles like buildings when the humans provoke him, or, when dead-set on arriving at a certain location. As the Godzilla series continued into the 60's and 70's, the terrifying monster developed as a character, and has since become a savior of the Earth, saving the world from other monsters.
The latest monsters that Godzilla has to defeat are MUTOs. The M.U.T.O.'s name is an acronym for "Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organism." They are ancient parasites that come from the same era and ecosystem as Godzilla. Much like him, the they feed off of radiation. However, unlike the surviving Godzilla, who adapted to live at the bottom of the ocean and feed off the planet's natural radiation, the M.U.T.O. are actively drawn to sources of man-made radiation such as nuclear warheads and energy plants.
