Geocache Description:

A magnetic nano. Cache is at the posted coordinates. To log a 'find' you must meet the challenge requirements listed below.

While visiting my Mom out in BC, I came across bigcall's Charter Member Challenge GC55AHK. I really liked the idea so I thought I would bring it out here to Ontario. It's a little way of bringing attention to those players that have stuck with this game through all the changes it has gone through. Thank you to bigcall for allowing me to copy his idea. To make it easy to see if you qualify, I have linked his bookmarked list of charter members.

Some History

4 months after Dave Ulmer placed the first 'stash' in an Oregon wilderness in May of 2000, Jeremy Irish created Geocaching.com, an online hobby site run from his home computer, that attempted to streamline the process of finding any of the 75 caches that were known to exist back then. Soon various media outlets made mention of the website and the new hobby. More and more people were interested in trying geocaching out, which caused Jeremy to realize the operation would be too big for his one computer. He partnered with two of his coworkers, Elias Alvord and Bryan Roth, to create a new company, now known as Groundspeak Inc.. The new partnership sold 144 geocaching T-shirts to finance the move of Geocaching.com to a hosted environment in downtown Seattle, in late 2000. (Imagine what one of these shirts would be worth nowadays?) The partners still worked their day jobs, and managed the company in their off hours. A year or so later, they offered premium memberships. Every member who bought a premium membership in the first year that they were offered, and has maintained their premium membership without lapsing till this day, is called a 'Charter Member'. Groundspeak did this as a way of thanking these pioneering cachers for their early support of the website. Today there are less than 500 Charter Members.

The Rules:

1) You must find a cache by 13 different charter members.

2) List the cache owner, cache and date found. Either as a book mark list, attach a photo, or list them in your log.

3) You can find the cache before you qualify, just write a note. Then claim a find when you qualify.

4) Each CO claimed for this challenge, must have the words 'charter member' under their geocaching name at the time of your claim.

5) Geocaching HQ counts as a charter member.

Have fun!
