Johnny had been geocaching for several months and had already gone to a couple of events in the area so he could learn more about geocaching and meet fellow geocachers. The events were always a lot of fun with people telling stories of their adventures, swapping or discovering travel bugs, good food and even some neat door prizes.
Johnny saw that there was a new event being hosted by the St Rock but it was for Premium Members Only. Unfortunately, he hadn’t signed up for a Premium Membership yet but thought he would go over on the night of the event to see what was going on. Maybe he could sneak in!
When he arrived at the parking lot, he could see a cacher that he knew to be Ronwhite standing at the door. Pretty soon another cacher couple, the KNKINCABOT, approached the door. Johnny knew that they had originally started a monthly event series in the area. There was an exchange of conversation between them and Ronwhite and they were waved through the door. Johnny crept closer so he could hear what was being said.
Then Floaten arrived and Johnny heard Ronwhite say 12. Floaten responded 6 and was waved through the door. Next, the CanadaTeam arrived. Ronwhite said 6 and CanadaTeam said 3 and they too were waved in.
Johnny figured that he knew this easy pattern so he walked up to the door. Ronwhite said 16 and Johnny responded 8. Ronwhite said that was the wrong response; only Premium Members knew the “secret” code to enter and asked Johnny to leave.
To solve the puzzle, please help Johnny figure out the correct answer (other than getting a Premium Membership!).
