Geocache Description:

This series challenges you with a number of tasks, not the least of which is to hike all the way from the Shoreline (aka Burrard Inlet) to the Skyline, which in this case is the top of Skyline Trail in North Vancouver. Traversing a total distance of 8 kilometres, you will face an elevation gain of about 880 metres. The wise cacher will split this adventure into manageable sections. The rest of you should carry plenty of food and water.

Along the way, you will discover a few caches that contain clues you need to collect, others that are not what they seem to be, and a couple that we hope will make you smile.

IMPORTANT! IN ORDER TO OPEN THIS CONTAINER YOU WILL NEED TO MAKE USE OF THE FIVE CLUES YOU COLLECTED ALONG THE WAY.

The Skyline Trail portion of this series follows the right-of-way of the old Grouse Chairlift. Built in the 1940s, this wooden structure brought skiers and tourists up to the top of Grouse Mountain from Skyline Drive. The chairlift was retired in 1966 after the Grouse Mountain Skyride began operation. There are many relics of old chairlift equipment that can be seen (look but don’t touch!) to your left and right as you ascend the trail (or descend, if that’s how you roll).

Due to a minor proximity issue, we had to locate this cache a short distance off Skyline Trail. If you watch for a side trail to the east there will be absolutely no bushwhacking required. Please remain on the established trails. A couple of these side trails are actually former skid roads, narrow pathways built by loggers for teams of horses to drag fallen trees out of the forest.

If your device is giving you grief amongst all the trees you can always resort to the hint.

We hope you enjoy this series. Remember to cache safely by always being aware of your surroundings, and please put the cache back as you found it.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Once you have opened the lock PLEASE DO NOT SPIN THE DIALS! You need to close the lock THEN spin the dials in order for it to re-lock successfully.
