Official Geocache – Falls Lake and Dam
The cache is a medium dry box container hidden near the Dam at Falls Lake.
This cache can be reached easily by parking in one of the parking spaces on top of the dam. To access the cache: There is plenty of parking at the Visitors Assistance Center, however, you may also park at the front parking lot right off Falls of the Neuse Rd, at the lot near the Maintenance Compound, or in one of the parking spaces on the dam. Your GPS will be your guide from there.
Falls Lake Visitors Assistance Center, and Tailrace Recreation Area is one of the many Parks and Recreation areas on Falls Lake. Falls Lake is a man-made reservoir, located in the upper portion of the Neuse River Basin, nestled very near North Carolina’s bustling “Triangle Area.” The reservoir covers almost 12,500 acres with water, and is surrounded by 25,500 acres of public land. The dam is located just outside of Raleigh, and the lake stretches 22 miles upstream to the confluence of the Eno, Flat, and Little Rivers near Durham. Falls Lake offers many recreational opportunities to the public. Take some time to get to know Falls Lake and the opportunities it provides right here amid the rapidly growing triangle area!
The Visitor Assistance Center at Falls Lake is located adjacent to the Dam. It is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am until 4:30 pm (Winter Hours), and 7 days a week 8:00 am until 5:00 pm during the summer.
