Along the way, you will discover a few caches that contain clues you need to collect, others that are not what they seem to be, and a couple that we hope will make you smile.
THIS CACHE CONTAINS ONE OF FIVE CLUES YOU WILL NEED TO RECORD IN ORDER TO OPEN THE CONTAINER AT SHORELINE TO SKYLINE – TANGO. PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE THIS CLUE FROM THE CACHE.
The Skyline Trail portion of this series follows the right-of-way of the old Grouse Chairlift. Built in the 1940s, this wooden structure brought skiers and tourists up to the top of Grouse Mountain from Skyline Drive. The chairlift was retired in 1966 after the Grouse Mountain Skyride began operation. There are many relics of old chairlift equipment that can be seen (look but don’t touch!) to your left and right as you ascend the trail (or descend, if that’s how you roll).
This cache is very close to Skyline Trail. The terrain rating reflects the fact that Skyline Trail itself is quite steep and has many spots where the rocks under foot are loose. We very strongly recommend that all cachers use a hiking stick or poles for assistance, particularly any of you who have chosen the more difficult and dangerous option of descending the trail. That can be a treacherous choice in either dry or wet weather conditions.
We hope you enjoy this series. Remember to cache safely by always being aware of your surroundings, and please put the cache back as you found it.
