Grantham Canal - Dragonfly Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Alqunas: I have had to take a long, hard look at this one. I have been back several times and the dog across the canal is somewhat tiresome - as soon as it notices you it barks and barks and sometimes jumps into the canal - it doesn't seem nasty but it does draw attention to what you are doing and there is no natural excuse, such as a bench, to hang around near GZ for any length of time. As such I have taken the very reluctant decision to archive this cache which is a pity as it fills a natural gap in the walk along this section.
There is a laminate copy trackable listed in the cache but it wasn't in it when I retrieved it. I had hoped that someone was merely late logging it, but it hasn't been logged yet so that too seems a forlorn hope. I will try to establish contact with the previous finders this week and if I don't get any joy will contact the owner to see if they would prefer that I mark this missing, or as it is a copy, send another copy on it's way from here.

Note for reviewer: I have already retrieved this cache.

Geocache Description:

This is a small traditional cache alongside the picturesque Grantham Canal; when placed it had a few items of swag.

This is a continuation of my occasional series of caches alongside the Grantham Canal. It is a small cliplock container with sufficient room for a few swaps and small trackables.

The name is a little random, but was chosen because there were quite a few dragonflies on this section on the day that it was placed - which being mid-September seemed a little unusual.

The footpath here is grassed and therefore may be a little muddy after rain. The footpath is suitable for cycles and I would think all-terrain buggies. Unfortunately I don't think that this section is wheelchair accessible, not only because of the surface but because of the narrow and steep access point.

You should only get wet if it is raining - this cache has not been placed near the water itself. This is a lovely area with loads of wildlife and plants and is great for kids and generally a safe environment although clearly the   usual warnings about supervision of children near water applies.

Congratulations to NottsWalker and Northking on their joint FTF
