Le projet de ce nouveau pont date de 1825. La première version du pont, en métal, est réalisée entre 1856 et 1857. Trop cher à maintenir et surtout trop léger pour supporter le poids du tramway, il cède sa place, le 27 avril 1896, à une seconde version en béton et couvert de pierre de taille provenant de Saint-Imier prévu pour permettre le passage des tramways à vapeur qui font la liaison de la gare Cornavin au site de l'Exposition nationale. En 1970, le pont de la Coulouvrenière est élargi pour permettre la création de deux trottoirs de 3,70 mètres chacun. À cette occasion, la balustrade de granit soulignée par une corniche en marbre gris qui bordait le pont ainsi que les colonnes de 11 mètres en granit sont supprimées. En 1995, le pont retrouve le tram lorsque la ligne 13, reliant la gare Cornavin et le Bachet-de-Pesay, est mise en service. En 2001, un escalier est ajouté au pont et permet de rejoindre directement la promenade des Lavandières.

The project of this new bridge dates 1825. The first version of the bridge, in metal, is realized between 1856 and 1857. Too expensively to maintain and especially too light to support the weight of the streetcar, it gives its place, on April 27th, 1896, to a second concrete version and covered with freestone coming from Saint-Imier planned to allow the passage of the steam streetcars which make the connection of the Cornavin station to the site of the national Exhibition. In 1970, the bridge of Coulouvrenière is widened to allow the creation of two pavements of 3,70 meters each. On this occasion, the granite balustrade underlined by a grey marble ledge which lined the bridge as well as the granite 11 meter columns are eliminated. In 1995, the bridge finds the streetcar when the line 13, connecting the station Cornavin and the Bachet-de-Pesay, is put into service. In 2001, a staircase is added to the bridge and allows to join directly "la promenade des Lavandières".
