Geocache Description:

A Park and Grab.

Watch the kids as it is on a busy road.
Parking on sea side of the road.

Camo Berocca Tube, BYO pen.

This fence is to stop the Little Blue Penguins from crossing the road, is approx 2.5kms long.

West Coast Blue Penguin Trust and NZTA built this fence in an effort to stop blue penguins being killed on SH6.

Blue penguins are a protected species and detailed monitoring by the W C Blue Penguin trust has found road kill is the single biggest cause of death in the local blue penguin population.
In 6 years prior to fence being erected 109 blue penguins were reported killed along a 9km stretch between Punakaiki and Fox river.
The fence protects penguins to the safe area below where there are plenty of old burrows for them to move in during late July.
