Another in our series of Gower Church Micros.
Not within the Church precincts, so please don't search in the grounds, all relevant info can be sourced from the outside.
Can be busy with Church goers, BYOP and tweezers.
Carmel chapel is situated in a secluded, wooded location off the A48 road, 7 miles West of Swansea. Pontlliw at the beginning of the 19th Century was circled by farmsteads , but the village was significant for its woollen mill and its iron works Lliw Forge, regular meetings were then held for two years in a converted charcoal store near the Lliw Forge. Ever since its inception, Carmel has maintained a consistent and regular Ministry of the Word and Pastoral Oversight, this has continued into the 21st century with the current Minister, a descendant of the first two individuals to be baptised in June, 1832.
Five very small coffin-shaped graves, the surrounding stones of each are painted white,this is a stark effect, very sad to see. Child Cholera victims, buried at night in case of contamination, each one has a head and foot stone.
The given coordinates will take you to the Chapel, locate the plaque on the front with three sets of dates.
A = 1st number + last number on 1st line.

E = 2nd number on 2nd line - 1st number on second line.
