Geocache Description:

This is a Travel Bug Hotel with high hopes and a broad scope. Be sure to replace the cache the way you found it, and don't forget to lock it back up. Please award a favorite point if you like this cache!

As a friendly reminder, it is the responsibility of any cacher who takes or leaves a travel bug to properly manage them not only in the physical realm, but the online realm as well. Nobody likes to go to TB Hotels with a healthy online list of TBs only to find the list is wrong and the actual inventory is dismal. This means you'll need to transfer any TBs you trade to or from the cache's inventory, so potential seekers can have, at a glance, an accurate count of the TBs currently housed within the cache. In order to maintain this state of accurate inventory, we as the COs need to occasionally mark items as missing if they are not physically located within the cache but are listed in the online inventory. We have noticed a good deal of issues in this vein so we felt it necessary to mention it.

To pick up a travel bug, just click on a trackable in the cache's inventory (on the right side of the cache page, beneath the map, the attributes and the ads), click "found it? Log it!", change type of log to "Retrieve it from such and such" or "Grab it from somewhere else", then write and submit a log for the trackable. It's now in your online inventory. To drop off a TB, on the log-writing page click on the drop-down menu of the trackable within your inventory which you'd like to drop, change it to "dropped off" and then hit "submit log entry". Voila! You've now done your part to keep trackables moving towards their destination (or meandering aimlessly!) and maintaining the proper documentation which enhances the experience of those inclined towards discovering and moving along Travel Bugs. Yay! Order and discipline!

This is a launchpad for Travel Bugs whose mission is to see foreign ports. Our hope is that navy geocachers will pick them up and take them on deployments to other states and countries. No need to go on base and there is plenty of parking at GZ.

As a bonus for you benchmark hunters, there is one very close by! Search for designation D 1229 (PID GT0978). It is located on one of the feet of a tall structure to the west of the cache. Please use caution and do not go into areas designated as dangerous by the signs.

If you'd like to find the location of more benchmarks, visit the following page, zoom in on the map to your desired search location, click on 'map layers' on the left, and then click on 'find marks'. If the map shows boxes with numbers, then you'll have to zoom in more to see that number of benchmarks in that particular area. When you're zoomed in enough, you'll see different icons that you can click on to obtain a dialog box that you can then click on 'datasheet' and see exact location and date information. If this helps you, please feel free to award us a favorite point for this cache! Here's the link: http://www.ngs.noaa.gov/NGSDataExplorer/
