This cache is hidden near a piece of art titled Krypton by Bruce Hopper. The monolith was made in 1973 and resembles the slab from the film 2001: A Space Odyssey. An electric device inside this steel sculpture, making it hum, was disconnected in 1974 in response to an energy shortage and complaints about the noise.
The cache is not hidden on the sculpture, be kind to the plants, stealth required, and BYOP.
Click here for information about visitor parking on campus and click here for the visitor parking map. Parking is free on Sundays but you will have to pay any other day. The pay to park stations are currently $2 per half hour from 6:30am until 4:00pm. After 4pm they'll stop you at the gate and collect a $6 flat rate which they will refund if you can get out within 15 minutes.
I would suggest going on Sunday. The parking is free so you can make a day of it. There are a number of caches on campus besides this one and you'll be able to enjoy the beautiful campus. Swing by Hamilton Library and pick up an Art of UH Manoa pamplet which will detail the location and history of all the outdoor pieces on campus and visit the UH Manoa Art Gallery which is located in the Art Building not far from this caches location.
