We are celebrating the reopening of the Cascadilla Glen Trail (closed since 2008) by placing a regular-sized container along this gem of a trail. The trail is only a 1/2 mile long but treats visitors to several waterfalls and provides a stunning natural location tucked between downtown Ithaca and the Cornell campus. The trail has steep stone steps and can be slippery - please use caution.
To me, this area embodies the very essence of an Ithaca gorge and I have fond memories of finding an early (2001) cache here - CacheCadilla: http://coord.info/GCC53. That cache actually survived the massive reconstruction work here, but because it was disabled and then archived for inaccessibility during the 6 years the trail was closed, we were unable to bring back the original. This tribute cache is placed very near that original cache (to see the original location, continue upstream 100 feet until you see the white triangular rock in the paving: this points directly to the niche hiding spot).
You do not need to leave the trail to reach the cache. As it is very close to the well-traveled trail, please rehide especially well. If the gates (see waypoints) are closed, the trail is off-limits for safety. The trail is closed sunset to sunrise, and also during the winter: any finds that violate gorge regulations will be deleted. See photo for all gorge regulations.
