What is Earthcaching?
Geocaching.com refers to Earthcaching as: "An EarthCache is a special geological location people can visit to learn about a unique feature of the Earth. EarthCache pages include a set of educational notes along with coordinates. Visitors to EarthCaches can see how our planet has been shaped by geological processes, how we manage its resources and how scientists gather evidence. Typically, to log an EarthCache, you will have to provide answers to questions by observing the geological location."
What is the event all about?
Come out and discuss Earthcaching with the local Geocaching community. This will be a great opportunity to come out and learn a little bit about Earthcaching and science! There are a few Earthcaches in the area, so we will probably make plans to go out and enjoy some of the local Earthcaches!
International Earthcaching Day is the first Sunday of Earth Science Week and this is the first year GeoCaching.com is offering a souvenir for logging a “Found It” on an Earthcache.
The Event will be held from 12PM to 1PM.
