Welcome to The U.S. Space Camp’s launch pad! This is where campers get to fire their hand built rockets and watch them go! Both my children were fortunate to experience this adventure and both were lucky enough to bring their rocket home after recovering it from its flight. You will see, however, not everyone brought their rockets home as there are remnants hanging here and there as the wind must have gotten to them when their parachutes opened and blew them off course. The cache you seek is also the unlucky recipient of a strong gust of wind and was blown off course.
The posted coordinates will take you to the launch pad site. While here, take a few minutes to read about Homer Hickam and his contributions! To find the cache, go to N 34 42.769, W 86 38.783
At this location, you are looking for an obvious payload that has gone off course… you will know it when you see it. Please do not attempt to remove the container from its tether. To access the log, simply detach the body where it is loose. Please place the cache back as you find it. The unique container, while a pretty decent size, can really only hold a log and some very small swag.
I hope you enjoy your adventure today!
