This cache is placed in memory of our daughter Amanda who passed away from an aggressive pediatric cancer called rhabdomyosarcoma in May 2013 - she was 16 years old. Amanda never geocached, but we are certain she would have loved it!
As a family we kayaked these waters regularly - we would come to watch turtles, fish (well, try to), view wildlife and enjoy the outdoors. This was definitely a favorite place for Amanda.
Amanda, was a vivacious teen who loved her family, school, volleyball, her cat, crab cream cheese wontons, reading, camping, kayaking, hiking, and Tinkerbell! Amanda never gave up her fight of cancer and she honestly did BELIEVE that she would beat cancer. 17 months of her young life was spent battling a diisease that ultimately took her life. She was brave, strong, beautiful and determined...and she BELIEVED!
The day we placed this cache would be Amanda's 18th birthday - we wanted to remember her today with a geocache at one of her favorite places.
We hope you enjoy this area as much as we have and do! When you find the cache we hope you take a moment to enjoy the view and this beautiful place!
Lots of swag for the FTF!
