The buzzard (Buteo buteo) is a medium-to-large bird of prey. Although you're unlikely to see a buzzard in the woodland, you might see or hear them circling overhead, looking for small mammals or carrion to eat. A great opportunist, buzzards adapt well to a varied diet of pheasant, rabbit, other mammals, snakes and lizards, and can often be seen walking over recently ploughed fields looking for worms and insects.
