This cache, my first, is in honor of my geo-buddy safechrisLaurie, who successfully broke me out of my comfort zone and got me out into the parks and preserves hiking well beyond what I thought were my limits. Through her eyes, I have learned to see beauty in what I had previously taken for granted and even avoided. On our most recent hike, I took a picture of a swamp because I thought it was beautiful! A SWAMP! Breeding ground for mosquitoes and a million other pesky bugs...yes, it was beautiful. She will soon be leaving to return to the icy tundra of MinneSOHta, and will be greatly missed by all the geo and muggle friends she has made in Florida.
This cache takes the place of one of safechrisLaurie's previous caches, "Twisty Treat at Cypress Creek Nature Park." My Pops and I were the last to log this one, and we brought out the ammo box with us. It just seemed fitting to put another here to thank her for all the geo-fun! I'll miss ya, girl, but just remember...I'll be needing to get a MinneSOHta souvenir on my page one day! :D
At the end of Robertson Trail is where you will find limited parking for the main entrance to Cypress Creek Nature Preserve. When you see the paintball area on the right, look to the left for the preserve walk-thru gate. You will be looking for a camo lock-n-lock container with a small log book, an activated FTF coin that the finder is free to pass along or move over to a collection, and a couple of SWAG items to get it going. BYOP as it's not quite large enough for that. Thanks for coming out...enjoy the preserve!
