Geocache Description:

RIVERSIDE PARK AMPHITHEATER

This amphitheater was built during the great depression by the Works Progress Administration (WPA). The WPA was the most ambitious New Deal program that provided work for millions of unemployed people. These public works projects benefited almost every community. They built parks, schools, roads and bridges and you can see many of these sturdy structures still standing today.

Sit for a moment and consider the tons of stone that was layered into the hillside and the yards of concrete used to hold it together. This was done by mostly unskilled labor who relied more on muscle than mechanical power. The amphitheater has lasted 80 years and with a little repair it should last many more. It stands as a tribute to the hard working men who built it.

About the cache, Please remember you are in a historical site and be gentle with your search. You do not need to pick at the stone walls or even move anything to get the container. Hope you enjoy this cache.
